Wallace was born to Vanessa Murphy and Poseidon. They met in a pub where Vanessa was drinking because she was depressed on losing her job. Poseidon passed by and saw her. Well, it was love at first sight. He approached Vanessa and when Vanessa saw him, she fell in love as well. They talked for a while before Vanessa decided to go home. Poseidon told Vanessa that he will help her find a new job the day after and so Poseidon brought Vanessa to her apartment in Manhattan. The day after, Poseidon helped her find a new job as he promised. She got accepted as a cash register in a grocery store not so far from her home. A few weeks later and they started dating and after a while, they had an affair which lead to Vanessa's pregnancy. Poseidon found out soon after and suddenly disappeared. Vanessa was heartbroken and attempted to abort the child. She was stopped by her mother and told her that she will take care of her son after birth. Nine months later and Vanessa went into labor. She died in the process but the baby survived. The baby was named Vincent.
Vanessa's mother took the child to their home in Kansas. They lived a peaceful life but a few months after Vincent was born, their neighbor's house caught fire and due to the fact that their house was made of wood, it caught fire too and burned down. Luckily Vincent survived because he was in their backyard, lying down on a bed tied to the trees. Her grandmother died because it tried to save some stuff inside the burning house but unfortunately, she didn't make it out. A kind person took Vincent from the bed before the hazardous smoke reach his bed in their backyard and took him to the orphanage. The person have no idea what Vincent's real name was so she told the Attendants on the Orphanage to name him. Vincent's blue eyes caught their attention and so he named him Wallace, meaning "ocean". Wallace grew up in the orphanage. He is a subject to bullying and is always an outcast. When he turned nine, he was adopted by a couple who has no child. The McKidds. They lived in New York, the place where he was born though he has no idea he was born there. He was home schooled and was deeply cared for by his parents.
When he turned 13, he was attacked by a monster. A hellhound got in their house and tried to kill Wallace. Wallace managed to run outside the house and into the mall. He managed to lose the Hellhound and went back home. Ever since that day, he became very cautious, afraid to suffer the same fate again. Years passed and another monster attacked him when he was 15. This time, it was a Harpy. It was able to wound his right shoulder but he managed to lose it by diving underwater. There, he discovered something very strange about himself. He can breathe underwater. He didn't know why but when he turned 18, a man with goat legs, a satyr found him and told him everything. It was really hard to believe but considering the fact that he can breathe underwater, he believed the satyr. On that same day, he found out that his adoptive parents died on a plane crash. He decided to leave his home and go with the satyr to Camp Half-Blood where he was claimed by Poseidon after three days of staying in Hermes' Cabin.
