Flirting to Hurting: Part 2 of 3[]

  • Cody: He walks up to Palaemon's cabin uneasy, remembering his conversation with Aella perfectly, he hesitantly twists the doorknob as he pokes his head through the now open doorway, "Um, h-hello?"
  • Aella: She was resting on her bed with Penthesilea when the door opens and the husky bounds off the bed, barking loud. "Penny! Down! Now" Her stubborn puppy ignores her and jumps up at the visitor.
  • Cody: He smiles, as he always had a sort of affection to any dog he encountered, he then kneels down to meet the puppy, "You're a pretty girl aren't ya?" His smile grows, as he scratches behind Penny's ear.
  • Aella: "Penthesilea, back!" The husky returns to her side and sits obediently when commanded. "Sorry she's a bit - oh, Cody." She feels awkward, her face going red with embarrassment as she remembers yesterday. "You came..."
  • Cody: He stands up, rubbing his hands together awkwardly, "Yeah um... were you just offering to be nice?" He stands there awkwardly, sticking his hands into his pockets.
  • Aella: She stands up taller, grabbing a fluffy winter coat from her bed and putting it on hastily. Her husky jumps on the bed and whines. "Stay, Penthesilea." Then, she pushes Cody out of the cabin before following him and closing the door behind her. "No, I was being utterly serious. I owe you a coffee."
  • Cody: "It's fine, you don't need to buy me a coffee. I can pay for myself." He looks down, feeling already like he was being a burden.
  • Aella: "If I said I am going to buy you a coffee, then I am going to buy you a coffee." She pulls the hood of her coat up, feeling the breeze chill her skin. "So, no complaints whatsoever."
  • Cody: He smiles weakly and nods, "Okay, but at least let me pay for yours. If you want one that is." He then pulls his coat sleeves down so they are covering his hands from the cold.
  • Aella: She sighs, deciding to let the debate drop until she has the chance to sneak some extra money into his bag for the coffee. "Let's go then, cowboy." She begins walking down the path to the coffee shop."
  • Cody: He nods, and begins to walk with her down the path, "So um, did you think about how we're going to get to the coffee shop? Or were you just planning on walking the whole way?"
  • Aella: She pauses for a second, cause y'know, it's a legit question. Then replies, "How long will it take to get there by foot?"
  • Cody: He thinks for a second, "It should take roughly twenty or thirty minutes. If you want I can call a taxi."
  • Aella: "A taxi would be great."
  • Cody: He nods, taking out his phone and dialing the number of the taxi company, "Just give me a moment, I'll be right back."
  • Aella: "Okay?" Stuffs her hands in her pockets and leans against the fence.
  • Cody: He steps away for a minute while he is talking to the company and when he comes back he puts the phone away, "They'll be picking us up on the side road near camp."
  • Aella: She begins walking to the side road, her hands still warm in her pockets. "So, where's your...son today?" Fearing the topic is still sensitive, she winces.
  • Cody: "Oh um, the Athena kid is teaching him how to read back in his room at the nymph sanctuary."
  • Aella: She looks confused. "Nymph sanctuary? Isn't he your son?"
  • Cody: "Yeah he's my son. Why should he not be in the nymph sanctuary?" He looks somewhat surprised by Aella's reaction.
  • Aella: She looks at him as if he is joking. "Well, when a mummy loves a daddy a lot, they make a baby. You're a demigod... Demigods don't casually breed nymphs, hun."
  • Cody: He has a look like oh well obviously not, "Remember last night when I said I had to sell my soul to Zeus to save him? Yeah well in doing so he turned him into a mortal, to well, save him."
  • Aella: "Oh..." She nods, as if life makes sense and yes, pigs can fly and this explanation would have been totally insane before her arrival at camp but hey, she is at camp now and this is just the everyday life of a demigod. "So, when's the taxi gonna get here?"
  • Cody: He looks at his watch, "In roughly five minutes. Until then we get to wait in the cold."
  • Aella: "Sounds delightful" she replies and then rubs her hands together. "You used to this cold, whever ya from?"
  • Cody: "Yeah I'm used to it, I've lived in South Korea and New York, I'm perfectly fine with cold weather now." He pauses for a moment, watching his breath float off in the cold air, "What about you, where are you from?"
  • Aella: "Hawai'i, Honolulu to be exact. It ain't ever got as cold as this, it's kinda a shock to me."
  • Cody: "I would have loved to have grown up in Hawaii, would have been way better than growing up in freezing cold places."
  • Aella: The taxi arrives, pulling up breaking the small silence after his words. She opens the door and jumps into the furthest seat. "C'mon, I need some caffeine to get me moving."
  • Cody: He jumps in the taxi, and after explaining to the driver where they are going, they set off to reach the destination.
  • Aella: The taxi drives faster than Aella expected with all the ice on the sides of the road. She's fiddling with her jacket sleeves when suddenly, the car jerks as the wheel slides on ice; sending the taxi straight into a tree.
  • Cody: After the sudden jerk, he bashes his head against the window, and eventually onto the seat in front of him after the car hits the tree. After the car comes to a stop, he hardly manages to open the door and get himself out of the car without falling, he then bends over to look inside of the vehicle, "A-Are you okay?" His head is continuously pounding.
  • Aella: The crash had pushed Aella's tall frame again the seat in front and the force of the tree had pushed the seat back. She could feel the bone in her leg snapped as it became wedged under the seat. "Y-yes, for now. My leg, my leg; I can't get out." She groaned out to Cody, feeling blood drip from her nose.
  • Cody: He hesitantly looks down at Aella's leg and upon seeing it he instantly feels sick to his stomach. "Okay I'm gonna push the driver's seat forward. Just hold on I'll get you out." He moves to the other side of the vehicle and when he goes to move the driver's seat forward, he realizes that the driver is dead and he looks at Aella with fear in his eyes.
  • Aella: She doesn't dare look down at her leg so she just looks at Cody, figuring out what he is trying to express with his eyes. "Oh my gods, no..." She feels tears spring forward but blinks them away and puts on a strong facade. "Just move this goddamn seat out, I can't feel my leg anymore."
  • Cody: He nods and takes a deep breath and then opens the car door. After moving the seat up and freeing Aella's leg, he then opens her door and begins helping her out.
  • Aella: Aella smells blood and can feel her dormant powers become more active, giving her the energy to harden her skin and stand on her leg. "I can't keep this up for long so we must be near the coffee shop. We have to get some help!"
  • Cody: "Okay, um let me think!" He quickly decides that carrying her would be the best idea, despite his pounding headache pleading for him not to. He then kneels down and looks up at Aella, "Get on my back."
  • Aella: She pushes herself up, despite her leg, ignoring the pain by being focused on the task. "I dunno if this is gonna work, we don't even know how far we are! What if a monster comes, we're outside camp borders?"
