Name:Riley Budd

Gender: Male

God Parent:Ares Hephaestus or apollo.

Mortal Parent:lyra Budd

Age: 13

Appearance: Six feet tall, chubby but Still very muscular as well, red hair, small brown eyes, small nose and mouth. A football lineman build with short, strong legs and arms, but a long torso.

Personality: he is usually friendly and comical, but if you insult him or his friends and family, he's fierce and protective, he's also kind, smart and a hard worker, although he often lets his anger take control, and is often too sensitive.

History: Lyra Budd had always been competitive and strong, a talented athlete in track and field as a teen and young adult, she was successful and happy, but one night, in 1999, she had a night that changed her life forever. She was walking home after a victory dinner with her college track teammates, walking through the dark downtown streets of her city of Fresno, when she started to have a bad felling, something that made the hairs of her neck stand on end, so she kept walking, a little faster now, and slowly reached into her purse for her can of pepper spray, which her father had insisted she get. At that moment, she was grabbed, and forcefully thrown into the ally she was passing as she instinctively pulled out the spray and assessed the situation. Linda was surrounded. Three men, all wearing dark clothing and hoods stood around her menacingly. She instantly attacked spraying the man closest to her and kicking another as hard as she could, but it was no use they all fell upon her grabbing her purse and jewelry, while she continued to struggle. However, when they turned to make their escape, their way was blocked. A large man in motorcycle attire stood at the entrance to the alleyway. He moved towards them quickly, easily throwing the first assailant into a nearby dumpster, when the next mugger moved in to attack, the man swiftly delivered a crushing blow to the jaw, knocking him out cold, and before the third could move to escape, Lyra had knocked him across the head with a pipe that had been laying on the ground. Lyras savior then walked her home where she invited him home to a drink, they dated for almost two weeks before he revealed his identity and left. And it wasn't until several weeks later that Lyra found out she was Pregnant. And eight months later, she gave birth to Riley, and loved him more than anything in the world, and vowed to raise him to be kind and loving.

In Riley's early childhood, he was an active and energetic child, playing sports such as wrestling and football. He also became involved in boy scouts, where he learned many valuable skills, including building and wilderness survival. Riley was kind but often got into fights and trouble for destroying property, he didn't mean to be destructive, but he often didn't know his own strength.

Two weeks after his 13th birthday, Riley was walking home from his wrestling meeting that evening, where they had discussed the tournament that was to be held that weekend, when he noticed something out of the corner of his eye, at first he could've sworn it was a large black wolf! But a closer look revealed it to be a regular old German shepherd. Relieved, he continued to walk, albeit a bit faster. But still, it felt as though something was wrong, hi hairs stood on end, and his heart pumped faster than normal. A quick glance over his shoulder told him that the dog was still near him, and much closer this time.riley clutched his bag to his chest and watched, as the dog began to run. Riley braced himself knowing that he wouldn't be able to outrun it. But as he prepared himself for the impact, the dog grew and and changed, morphing into a huge monstrous looking black hound. Completing the transformation just as it leaped, snarling and baring its fangs, pinning Riley to the ground. It was all the boy could do to hold the beasts muzzle, pushing it away from his neck. With a grunt and strain, Riley managed to tip them over, pinning the monster below him, all the while being scratched and clawed. With the tables now turned, he had a slight advantage, but it wouldn't last long, even though he was extremely strong, Riley could feel himself getting slightly tired. So with a last burst of strength, he grabbed it by the throat and managed to bang its head down onto the concrete several times, feeling that it was wounded and less of a threat, he got up off of the howling creature, and watched it drag itself into a nearby alley calling out, probably calling for another hound to finish him off. Riley took a glance at himself and knew that he was probably worse off than the monster, considering the gashes along his side, and he surely would've been killed, if He hadn't used that last burst of power to wound the hound and escape, Riley wrote it off as adrenaline, although, deep down, he knew that it had been something else, some outside power. Riley quickly snatched up his duffel bag and limped home as fast as his wounded body could manage, collapsing as soon as he made it through the door.

When Riley woke up and told his mother what had happened, she explained to him who his father was and that the creature had been a hellhound. After that, a satyr soon found him and took him to camp.

Weapons:n When he is brought to camp, he is given a choice of weapons from the armory, from which he promptly picks a heavy mace with a wooden shaft and celestial bronze head.

Where did he get his hunting knife? Also, I suggest on another primary weapon. Knives are usually used as secondary weapons. In a battle, it will be harder for your character to go against a sword-user. Where did Riley's mom get Camp Half Blood's number?Such is life~ lol. Jap32Broken Thanks for responding so quickly, I was wondering if he could just wait until he gets to camp to get a weapon, I'm not really sure how else he would get one, with the knife, I was just suggesting it was a regular hunting knife from a sport store. But I just threw in there so he had something. Rileyred (talk) 08:24, July 27, 2015 (UTC)rileyr

he was 13 when he first got attacked and he reached camp when he was 14? am I correct?

Yes, that's what I was going for. Rileyred (talk) 14:36, July 27, 2015 (UTC)rileyr

ahhh ok so why is there a one year gap?? did something happen??

No, I was just suggesting that he turned fourteen while in camp, not before, and that he's been in camp for a while now, but if that is confusing I could easily change his age. Rileyred (talk) 15:38, July 27, 2015 (UTC)Rileyred

Sorry. You need to choose a weapon and detail what its specifications are, to follow policy. Even if he doesn't have a weapon when he arrives at camp, he'll probably be given one, especially as he's a son of Ares.

What attacked him?/ Despite his enhanced strength, I doubt Riley would be able to tackle and kill a lycanthrope (I assume it's one from the description) with his bare hands. Additionally, an untrained demigod without weapons would struggle to survive a monster attack, especially by such a dangerous monster.

Okay so I can just imagine any weapon and specifications to get at camp, or do I need to tie it into his backstory? Rileyred (talk) 15:57, July 27, 2015 (UTC)Rileyred

Um that's your choice :)

Okay, I said that he picks out a weapon from the camp armory. Rileyred (talk) 16:13, July 27, 2015 (UTC)Rileyr

It wasn't a lycanthrope, it was a small, low level hellhound. Also, he didn't kill it, merely wounded it enough for him to escape.Rileyred (talk) 17:25, July 27, 2015 (UTC)Rileyr

It seems that from the history, Riley got to camp shortly after his 13th birthday and is current 14. If so, Riley can't have already been at camp for the past year or so. It would be considered metagaming as he was never roleplayed. After the end of the history, Riley can only have already been at camp for a maximum of two weeks. A few simple suggestions would be to either change his current age to 13 or have him arrive to camp when he was 14.

Okay, I've edited the story so that he is 14 years old when he is attacked and when he arrives at camp. Rileyred (talk) 22:10, July 28, 2015 (UTC)rileyred

14 is normally too late for a child of a non-big three god to have his first monster attack (it should generally occur between the ages of 10 to 13). However, if a plausible reason for why Riley was not attacked early is provided, 14 can the age for the first attack.

His age is now 14! Rileyred (talk) 04:48, July 31, 2015 (UTC)rileyred

Given how tired Riley was and how relatively large and powerful hellhounds are, it's quite doubtful that Riley would be able to flip one over while being pinned down and then also bang its head on concrete.

What do you mean how tired he was? He hadn't done any stressful activity to make him tired until he was attacked, so he was at full strength when the hellhound attacked. And if you go by the Percy Jackson and the Olympians books, hell hounds come in many shapes and sizes, just like regular animals, and if this one was only a bit larger than a wolf, than it was a fairly weak hellhound and, correct me if I'm wrong, but they're not particularly "powerful". The only power that I remember is shadow travel, and a few other powers related to the underworld, which Riley was not in. And, the hound would've been slightly weaker since it was daytime, I may be remembering the books incorrectly, so I mean no disrespect to you, and I will be fine with Making changes if you see fit. And I have made some changes to the fight sequence to make the hellhound slightly smaller and the fight a bit more realistic, so please tell me if it's better and let me know what else I could do, thanks.
