My mom, Lydia met Erick (Eros) short before she finished college, she was in a jewellery store, buying some earrings, my father saw her and he started to walk toward her, she smiled and felt an immediate flash, she felt something special about him, and was instantly attracted, but she didn't know why. They went out for a few days, and even though she didn't get drunk, one day she invited Erick to her house, and they did "it". Days later mom got pregnant and my dad left her a few weeks later. Months after, she had me months with some minor problems, that's when my father somehow sent a satyr with me at the incubator while my mother was working and suddenly disappeared before she even knew that he had come, except for the note that was left to mom to tell her the truth: all of it. He also said in the letter that left me a bronze ballchain dogtag necklace that I would need to strip the necklace off (which would go easily and also would come back again easily) and wrap around my wrist, I never got it off, all my life Anium (as I named the necklace) was with me. Mom never forgot my dad.
It all started when I was 7 in Austin TX, I did things that other people didn't do, and I was taken as a weirdo, many classmates would exclude me from their groups, except for a girl named Aria, (which I later discovered she was also a demigod) in a few words: I was being bullied constantly, even though I was outgoing. I always got in fight problems with big bullies, and I normally lost since I was skinny but not weak. I noticed that I needed to train, so I started to train "tricking", which made my agility levels go really high. I never asked about my father, since mom would put a skeptical face as if she didn't know what I was talking about, and would secretly cry that same night. I had a pretty strong relation with my mom, even though we were not that rich and we couldn't always do what we wanted to, we loved us more than anything in the world, and since I never had friends, she was the only one I could rely on.
First Monster Attack (kind of):
When I was 11, my mom gave me the necklace, and told me that it would help mein difficult times. At 12 years I started archery lessons, and since the first class I got the hang of it and could shoot into the bullseye everytime after only 30 minutes of practicing, luckily and unluckily it was the same year when the trauma happened: I was coming back from archery lessons, all alone, and I got interested in a building under construction, since when I grew up I wanted to be an ingeneer specialized in architecture, I entered and started to look the building, taking notes and drawing pictures of the building in my "Ideas Notebook that I always carried with me. Surprisingly no one was there, but I didn't pay attention.
Then I saw a demon-like creature: a harpie. I loved greek mythology (as I thought it wasn't real) but I didn't quite recognize the creature, until a couple of days later, anyway I ran and stripped of my necklace as I thought this would count as a "difficult time" even though I didn't know what would happen.
I wrapped it around my wrist as I was instructed, and immediately it transformed into the finest and most perfect bow I'd ever seen, it was made of celestial bronze as well as the arrows that seemed infinite, since I shot many arrows, trying to hit her and the quiver seemed to have the same number of arrow as before. Surprisingly it wasn't either heavy nor uncomfortable, actually it was the lightest and most comfortable bow I'd used before.
Finally, I hit her in the chest, and she dissolved to golden dust. Scared, I tried to escape the building but then, I ran into a wall and a big chunk of scrap metal fell over me with a horribly loud "CLANG!!!" and all went black.
When I woke up it was late midnight, I had been asleep for like 8 hours, I was sore, but I noticed something immediately: I had no major cuts, just a few little cuts. That didn't worry me much as the other thing I saw: a couple of scars all over my body that I hadn't before. What that meant: all those little cuts were about to close and the scars hed been left there by other gashes from the horrible metal. And by that, there could only be one explanation: I had healed faster than normally.
I got scared and traumatized, since then, I am scared by loud noises. I ran home and got into shower, and noticed more scars that my clothes had hid. I go out of the shower and saw myself in the mirror, I had another one between my lips and chin. When my mom came back from a business trip and saw me, I just told her I fell in the stairs at school, even though, now I know, she knew that I had seen a monster.
Years passed and secretly I fought more monsters: mostly hellhounds and one empousa, as well as some cruel stymphalian birds. When I tried to explain my classmates, they'd always think I was out of my mind. So after many complains to the psychologist, by my friends, my mom made me do some exams, and I was diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD. That's when she knew she would soon have to spit the truth.
The Truth: Journey to Camp Half-Blood
Mom seemed to know something that I didn't, I suspected more and more every day until when I was 15. Until my mom told me what I was: a demigod, she explained all about my birth and how to use my necklace, I paid attention to every detail. She also told me that she was friend of a Mexican woman who was also a mother of two twin demigods that had just discovered what they were: Tony and Steven. Mom told me that they were older than me and that we would go to Camp Half-Blood, so we met in El Paso and we said our goodbyes and went on our own to CHB.
We were short on money so we could only afford for food at maximum for half year and a bus. With the bus we got to Atlanta, where we went to forests to travel, and we met an empousa. My instinct was to use my necklace. While I was wrapping it, Tony cut her severely in the arm and when she got distracted,I hit her in the neck and she dissolved into golden dust. I put myself in a relaxed position, and the bow transformed again into the necklace around my wrist, I put it in my neck and started moving forward with the twins. But before that the empousa died, she had left a gash in Steven's thigh, even though, he didn't tell anyone, until... it happened, since (at least he thought that) we couldn't loose any more time. The wound got worse, since, we were sleeping in forests and the gash wasn't being treated, so it swelled and got infected.
We were almost at camp, just 2 miles to get there, but then there were 3 dracaenae, and all we could do was attack. Tony was an expert with a pair of really small, yet, lethal daggers, since he always put snake poison at the blade. Steven used his spear-like weapon, that he made in Mexico, since he worked in a repair shop, and knew how to make all kinds of metal things. All I had was a bow and arrows. I hit a dracaena in the head, which immediately dissolved, Tony made a big cut in the second dracaena's both serpent-like ankles. When Steven was going to impale the third with the spear, the second struck him in his head with her trident-like spear in his left temple and in his jaw, harming his skull badly, the last straw for Steven.
Steven fell and hit the ground almost lifeless, I ran toward him while Tony was distracting both dracaenae, he stabbed one in the heart, the one who had hit Steven. "Get up Steven, you can do it, you're all big and buff, (which he was, he looked like 19 and he only was 16) not like me" I said. He giggled "I can't Jake, I'm almost dead, since the empousa, left a poisoned gash in my thigh, I'm not as resistant as before, please take care of My younger twin, you two make good chemistry fighting. Promise me you will take my place as his brother" he said talking as best as he could since his jaw had been broken. "I-I can't, why didn't you tell us before?" I stammer. "Because, we would've lost many time, and I know you can and you will, I trust you, here take my spear, it has a dagger hidden at the middle. Please take care of Tony, tell him I said you couldn't do anything to save me, tell him I-I love him and that I will look forward for-" then he stopped, he was dead. "Forward for what? Please Steven don't die!". I got the spear and ran with all my might toward the monster that was left, I jumped into her shoulders and threw her at the ground, then I stabbed her in the chest . She disintegrated. I told Tony what Steven told me, he wept silently. We found Camp Half-Blood in a matter of minutes, we entered. "All a journey to get here." Tony said. "All a journey." I repeated.
