Personality

Rory is a nice guy, but kind of rough around the edges. His passion is hockey so he can probably talk to you none stop about it. He is ambitious, and hopes to do something great in his life. He’s pretty loyal, unless you’ve grievously hurt him. Rory is not the forgiving type. At first glance he might come off as your typical jock, but he’s actually pretty smart, and full of surprises. Is he rude? Yeah, you could say so. Most would agree he is blunt and mean spirited. It can be hard to put up with him sometimes, but at the end of the day he is a sweetheart.

History

Heechul Seonu was the man with no fears. He lived everyday as if it were his last, and ended up gaining a lot of money from all the gambling on his reckless acts of dare. As a demigod who’s seen it all, life no longer held fears for him. To say this perplexed Deimos is an understatement. From above he watched the son of Hebe, always wondering what would inspire his fear. Finally, Deimos came down to Toronto to find that out himself. For a week, he tested Heechul with all kinds of traps, but none brought Heechul fear so much as anger. Deimos then decided to meet the man, in which he revealed himself to the demigod, and asked him the Yes, persistent question in his mind. “You’ll have to find out.” Deimos sometimes found these puny demigods to be so annoying. Surprisingly, Deimos only needed a month to crack Heechul; Heechul’s great fear was love, and he surely fell into that with Deimos. It didn’t matter how he felt back; he was a god, and gods could not, should not, let themselves be so affected by mere mortals. He decided in the end, to leave a piece of himself to Heechul, upon which he discovered Heechul’s second great fear- kids. Yes, Heechul is a man, but let’s be clear about something, Deimos is a /god/. On one of their nights together, he willed his anatomy to...change form a little, so that it were possible to bear children. Deimos disappeared for four month, only to return with two identical twins, his parting gift for Heechul. Heechul thought, maybe, this could be the one time a god could stay. Unfortunately, his third great fear was realized; Deimos would no longer be with him. Heechul took the twins, naming them Rory and Liam.

The twins grew up in a stable house, Heechul having given up his daredevil career to become a trash collector. It paid the bills, and provided for the twins to have a future with a dad. At an early age, it was discovered that they had adhd. Remembering his time with medicine, Heechul made sure that rather than take that horrid stuff, they control it with physical activity. Unfortunately, Liam didn’t take to sports as well, so he ended up doing art therapy. Rory, on the other hand, loved physical activity. Heechul taught him how to skate at around the same age, and put him on a hockey team. From there, Rory discovered his passion for the aggressive sport.

Once they entered school, Rory had a bit of trouble, but it was mostly his adhd that gave him issues. He ended up being quite the left brain, in that he was excellent at science and math, but absolute crap at english and art. Because his brother had the inverse problem, the two tutored each other, like two halves that make a whole. Together, they dominated early school, although most people liked Liam much more, considering Rory wasn’t the nicest of guys. Actually, whole Liam had a lot of friends, Rory had his brother and maybe three others. Rory was never jealous, however. At age seven, Heechul started training them to fight monsters, having told them the truth of the world early on.

At age eight, the close siblings ended up having a life changing encounter. While Rory was in hockey practice, Liam got kidnapped. Heechul searched frantically, but the child never turned up. Heechul got his old contacts from camp to help him out, but no one spotted Liam for a long time. This affected Rory severely. He became unresponsive for a while, the only thing giving him life being hockey. His grades slipped and he got into fights. Heechul didn’t have time for him, so Rory ended up training with one of Heechul’s old friends, a satyr. For a while that was his only friend.

Age eleven hits, and Heechul finally has a lead. The father followed the trail all the way to his ex from camp, Theo. Apparently, Theo had come to rekindle their relationship, which ended after Heechul broke up with him when he realized, after cheating on Theo multiple times, he didn’t love him. Theo wanted Heechul back and missed him, but had reserved pain. So he stole Liam instead. Enraged, Heechul fought Theo, despite him being a son of Ares. Somehow, Heechul managed to kill him, but not without becoming paralyzed at his waist. In one of Theo’s attacks, he managed to break Heechul’s back, which resulted in this. From then on, their training was continued by the satyr family friend. He’d tried to convince Heechul to let him take the twins to camp, but Heechul refused, not wanting his family to ever split again. It is the least the satyr could do to help.

With all the demigods present, it’s no surprise they had an early attack. Maybe a day before, Deimos prepared them. Two matching belts with dark leather that looked blood soaked arrived, with an engraved geom at either side of it. The belt buckles were skulls that, had they not ben so small, could’ve easily been confused with a human’s skull. Directions were provided; should they touch the engravings with the intent of using a sword, a celestial bronze geom would appear in their hands. They each thus got two geoms. The next day, two hell hounds attacked, but the twins were armed. Due to their training, they were able to fend off the monsters, and kill them. It wasn’t easy, but they were prepared. From then on, the twins trained with their swords, able to defeat any monsters that came at them with their increasing prowess.

Rory got better as time went on, able to see his brother in the flesh. They grew close once again, but never spoke of the time they weren’t together; it would only cause a rift. Liam was still the popular one, despite his changes after the kidnapping. Rory just focused on hockey, figuring that was his ticket in life. Most people thought he was an ass because of this, but Liam understood him. Rory wanted to be great, and this was his chance. In middle school and high school, they performed well, generally getting honor roll. Liam still got better grades than Rory.

When they turned seventeen, another life altering event occurred. While making breakfast, their father suffered a stroke and died. It is believed the stroke is in connection to the old injuries inflicted on him by Theo. Having nowhere else to go, the satyr training them took them to camp half blood, the stuff of legends their father always talked to them about

Powers

Offensive[]

  1. Children of Deimos have the ability to send a wave of terror out in front of them which causes anyone affected by it to imagine something they fear; the bigger the wave, the more energy used. This can leave them vulnerable to attack.
  2. Children of Deimos have the ability to unleash their battle-lust and fight to their full potential; however, they are temporarily blind to friend or foe and attack anyone nearby.

Defensive[]

  1. Children of Deimos can become resistant to all types of physical attacks for a short time.
  2. Children of Deimos can send out waves of terror and fear that may paralyze an opponent and cause them to stop attacking for a short time. But the user cannot attack the opponent while the paralysis is in effect.

Passive[]

  1. Children of Deimos are immune to any senses of fear and terror, making it impossible for them to get scared and panic in battle.
  2. Children of Deimos are innately proficient in most forms of combat and hold a higher state of physical prowess.
  3. Children of Deimos emit an aura of fear and terror, making people at least slightly afraid when near them. They can turn it off for a long time if they wish.
  4. Children of Deimos know the fears of everyone around them, as well as how a person is likely to cope with that fear.

Supplementary[]

  1. Children of Deimos have the ability to calm the fear of others.
  2. Children of Deimos are able to project a person’s worst fears into their mind, causing temporary trauma and confusion into them. This power is only active for a short time, and loses some of its effect the more it is used on the same person.
  3. Children of Deimos have the ability to conjure a real version of someone's worst fears, however, the child of Deimos is not able to control the conjured fear and is susceptible to them as well; they are also drained of a moderate amount of energy when the fear is conjured.
  4. Children of Deimos have the inhuman ability to leap great distances at once which can be used to dodge or attack. Upon landing, a small tremor is unleashed which causes anybody within a few feet to lose their balance.

3 Months After Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Deimos have the ability to focus on a person’s fears and mimic the abilities of that fear for a short time. If the user focuses on a pyrophobe, they will get some powers over fire. If the target is scared of a specific animal, they gain some abilities of the animal. (If the feared animal is a spider, the user will be able to generate webs from their wrists and crawl on walls.) And if the target is afraid of death, the user can drain some of their life-force and make them think they’re about to die. This power cannot be used to become incredibly powerful or instantly kill and the power can only be used once in a fight.

6 Months After Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Deimos can turn the fear and terror of others around them into emotional energy and then tools, objects, weapons and other items, create semi-living constructs and/or create structures/buildings of varying permanence; however, only up to 3 combative/non-combative items or 1 semi-living construct can be conjured at a time and it cannot be larger than roughly 3 times the size of the one that conjured it. The longer they maintain combative/non combative items and semi-living constructs, the more it drains their energy, so they are more limited for the time they can keep these things cohesive. The fear constructs will terrify/scare anyone they touch.

9 Months After Character is Made[]

  1. Children of Deimos have the ability to become a spirit made entirely of terror. In this state, they can change into a tangible form of someone or a group’s worst fear. The tangible form of the fear is the same size as that fear exists in naturally, is immune to all attacks, and the fear’s strength is greatly increased from its natural strength. The more the user is feared, and the more the form the user is in is dreaded, the stronger the user’s form is. The user can only stay in this state for a short time, after leaving this form, the user will be extremely drained, not able to move and could possibly even faint.

Traits[]

  1. Children of Deimos are known to hate the idea of losing people they care about.
  2. Children of Deimos typically enjoy fighting and combat, since their father is considered a war god.
  3. Children of Deimos normally love scaring people and watching them drown in fear and terror, making Halloween a special holiday for them.
