The following message took place during a dream:

Dear Luthren Marks,

Luthren, this is the first time I have spoken to you, but I have been watching you from the underworld. I'm very busy collecting the souls of those who have passed on, and some mischief souls have broken free of Tartarus, and fled with the help of some demigods. I need you to lead a group to go and collect these lost souls, and send them back to Tartarus for me. There will likely be monsters that pick up your sent, so be careful...

-Thanatos

Some demigods, possibly BC members had snuck into Tartarus and set free some souls that are now lost and haunting the Earth, Thanatos being to busy with his normal job sends Luthren to go find these spirits and bring them back to the underworld.

x1 Kere, Ohio, Luthren's hometown, in his old (now empty) house (Will occure last)

Turns out it was a Kere let out the souls in order to lure out some un-suspecting demigods to devour. Souls are returned safely, and all is well for now...

Spirits, released, by a monstrous disease, Their haunted rampage unable to cease. Demigods, called by the son of Death, Will find their travels take them west. Beholding a location that haunts the puppet’s mind, Yet fate, while bold, is never kind.

Preparing for Quest

Luthren: After talking to the camp councilors about his dream and consulting the oracles, Luthren now has a full team of half bloods to aid him. Luthren is just finished packing up supplies and walking out of the door of his cabin "Ahh this is going to be fun... well it beats sitting here training, I knew something was gonna happen soon..." Alexander: He's already packed ready for the quest, he had gotten an extra dagger from the armory just in case something happened to his. He's on his way to the Camp Van waiting on the other crew members. Cody: After learning of his part he packed up a small bag and strapped on his gear. He then went in search of the rest of the group. Natalie: When she heard she would be going on a quest, Nat was simply overjoyed. She even jumped for joy a little, and made squealing noises synonomous with teenage fangirl squeals. She then promptly ran to her cabin and began packing. She threw a number of things into her knapsack; her iPhone 5, a blanket, brass knuckles, multiple striped shirts, blue jeans, a red beanie and a black beanie, her spring-loaded triple dagger and rice thins. She zipped up her bag and slung it over her shoulders, heading for the Van. She was wearing a anorak jacket with a fur hood, blue jeans and hunting boots with daggers concealed inside each boot. Her spiked quarterstaff was in bracelet form on her wrist, and she wore a huge grin on her face. Her train of thought was something along the lines of, "Finally, I'm getting away from camp! No one's going to know me out there, maybe I'll meet someone nice! I wonder if I'll lose a dagger. I sure hope I don't. If the guys try and hit on me I'm going to punch them in the face." Bryson: With his Adidas duffel bag in hand, he walks out of the camp entrance. In his duffel bag would be his iPhone, his various clothing, his bow and the quiver of arrows; but, the rest of the weapons however are equipped onto himself. His katana is sheathed onto his back and his gauntlet with retractable blades is placed over his left hand. He would be wearing a tank top with a leather jacket on top along with his pair of black jeans. "The name's Bryson," he says to the Cody, Alexander and Natalie who have first arrived, looking around he doesn't see their leader anywhere in the proximity yet. Sitting on the edge of his sidewalk with his bag beside him, he takes out his two picks from his pocket transforming them into his electric guitar and amplifier playing a song to enlighten the rather bleak mood that lingers in the group. Alex: Packs his few belongings, acquiring a boot knife from the armory and putting on his assassin blades. He's excited for his first quest, but also cautious, as he's working with people he doesn't really know and it's his first time. He begins walking to the van. Luthren: When Luthren reached the van he noticed everyone else was there all ready. He looks at the group, and he recognizes only one of them... Alexander he thinks his name was. "Hello everyone, I'm Luthren, son of Thanatos, I am the one leading this quest. It would be nice for everyone to introduce themselves, and then we can talk about what we are going to be doing on this quest." Luthren drops his bag onto the floor of the van. In it is some clothes, small knives more for cutting than a weapon, some matches, a compass and map, and some ambrosia. He also has darachmas to get into the Underworld. Luthren has his kasurigama hooked around his belt. Cody: He looks around at the group with a look of pure terror at being near so many people. He decides to look at the ground instead. He mutters out "My name is Cody Segumaya, Son of Athena." He is wearing his usual long black cloak and black tee shirt and jeans. His shield is strapped to his forearm and his Rapier is attached at his hip. Natalie: "Hi Cody." She smiles and says. She feels like the leader's, Luthren's, introduction made the group seem like they were having an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. "Rightio," she shifts her weight around, crossing her arms in front of her chest and beaming at the group. Her Australian accent is prominent. "I'm Natalie, daughter of Cybele. Call me Nat, please. Oh, and it's nice to meet you all." She smiles at each individual group member, then turns to Bryson, motioning for him to take his turn at speaking. Alexander: He nods towards Luthren, remembering him. "Name's Alexander, Alex for short. Son of Hades." He was wearing his normal kind of clothing, a dark button down shirt and blue jeans. He scans the group of demigods.

Heading to the Underworld

The group is now on their way to the Underworld as part of the first step. They are going to receive a list of the lost souls from one of the three judges at the gate of the Underworld Luthren: "Ok, first things first, we will need to go down into the Underworld and get a list of all the missing spirits, I have enough drachmas to get us on the ferry, so don't worry about that... But we need to find one of the entrances, can you Hades kids help with that?" Alexander: He thinks for a bit. "There's an entrance in California. I don't think we'll need to pay for the ferry since you have two children of Hades." Luthren: "Well this will be a long road trip..." The group heads out on the road. The van continuing on stopping only at late night to rest and the occasional stop at the gas station for food, gas, and bathroom breaks. Eventually the van pulls off onto a dirt road (shortest path to the next town) and suddenly stops. In front of the van is a giant scorpion. Luthren: "OUTSIDE NOW!" Luthren yells, jumping out of the side of the van Cody: He jumps out of the side of the van and draws his Rapier preparing for the battle. Bryson: Swinging open the van door, he jumps aside and lands on his feet. He unsheathes his katana and protracts the blade of his claws out of his gauntlet. Spotting some scrap paper littered on the ground, he is prepared to create a temporary light source upon it to enlighten the area for a short period of time, if needed.  Giant Scorpion: He stands in front of the group of demigods, poisonous tail thrashing about in wide circles. The tip glints in the light as his tail spins faster and faster, the tip turned into a dizzying circle of brightness. The tail reaches its peak in speed and the scorpion flings it down to the side of the van, aiming for the demigods. Luthren: Luthren jumps out from underneath it's tail, hitting the gravel on the road and sliding into the ditch. He rolls to the bottom and a piece of gravel hits his back. He is soaking wet from the rainwater that had settled there as well. "Ugh great..." He stands back up and starts summoning a spirit to distract the scorpion Giant Scorpion: It snaps its pincers at the spirit, but realizing that it wasn't real when its pincers went right through it, scuttled in a frenzied rage over to where the group of demigods was, snapping its pincers at them and waving around its tail. Alexander: He's quick after Bryson and draws rapier leveling it with the scorpion's eyes before jumping out of the pincers way."How do we kill this thing?" Alex: He slipped out of the van moments before, and spent his time circling around the scorpion, using the distraction of the spirit to dart behind it. He drew his assassin blades, waiting for the right moment. "I'll try to get the stinger off, just say the word." Luthren: "Do it whenever you can" Luthren calls as he climbs up out of the ditch. He draws his kasurigama and starts slowly swinging the weight over his head, waiting for the scorpion to make a move. Alexander: He makes a quick game-plan is his mind. It might get himself killed but it was worth a shot. "I'll distract it. It'll have its pincers on me and you guys can try to swipe it clean." Luthren: "Surround it! Can anyone stop it's movements somehow?" Luthren keeps swinging the weight of the kasurigama ready to tangle up it's limbs if it attacked Cody: He stalks around the creature. As he hears Luthren's request his eyes sharpen and he sees the pressure points in its legs. "When your ready I will immobilize it." He levels his Rapier and prepares to rush the monster. Natalie: "No need." She jumps out of the van at that moment, having been conveniently asleep. I wish I wasn't such a goddamn deep sleeper, she thought. She looked unarmed, yet slowly approached the Scorpion with her hands out in front of her. Suddenly she thrusts her hands down and wills the ground below the scorpion to morph into quicksand pits, hopefully forcing the scorpion to fall or sink low enough to be less of a threat to the group.  Giant Scorpion: He looks at the demigods, confused as to why they are not attacking with their weapons. This makes it so that the quicksand pits take him by surprise, and he starts thrashing with his pincers and stinger awfully close to the faces of the questers. Alex: Keeps strafing behind the scorpion, waiting for the right moment. When it starts attacking the other questers he closes in, waiting for the stinger to come back. He then jumps into the air and crosses his blades, attempting to scissor off the stinger like Anakin scissored off Count Dooku's head. Luthren: Luthren flings the weight trying to rap it around the pincer closest to him "Stop it's pincers!" Luthren yells to Cody Cody: He leaps at the creature and striking where the pincer connects with the main body attempting to paralyze that pincer. Bryson: With his katana in hand he dashes at the Giant Scorpion after Cody when he is in distance, he creates a burst of light onto the giant scorpion's eyes as he's in range to blind it allowing him to follow with an attack. At the same time he continues to use his momentum to increase his speed, perhaps use the momentum to increase the lethality of his strike, attempting a lunge with his weapon at the Giant Scorpion's soft underside before taking a leap back to hopefully getting out fo reach of its pincers Giant Scorpion: Unfortunately for Alex, the stinger can pierce through light metals, so his blades are deflected because they are heavy. However, the force of the blades weakens the stinger, which sends the scorpion into a frenzy. Just as it begins to jump around, Bryson's light beams hit it in the eyes. It flips over onto its back, causing Bryson's slash to go in a diagonal line from its side onto its soft flesh. To top it all off, Cody's strike hits its left pincer, destabilizing that pincer. Its tail swings awfully close to Luthren, threatening to knock him over if he doesn't fight. Luthren's attempted hit hits the scaly tail, causing the tail to thrash faster. Luthren: Luthren quickly shadow travels underneath the tail and on the back side of it. he then slashes at the base of the tail while it is swinging away from him. "Pierce it's belly while it's flipped over!" He commands. Alexander: He unsheathes his dagger and shadow travels closer to the Scorpion. He forcefully shoves it into it stomach repeatedly. Natalie: She creates a large boulder out of the surrounding nature, and dumps it on the scorpion's belly while it's flipped, hoping that it will have trouble getting up with the weight of the boulder. Giant Scorpion: Since the tail is swinging away, the blade misses. But, the stabs from Alexander's daggers embedded in various places on it's stomach and Natalie's boulder on top of those daggers are enough the smash the scorpion into nothing more than a flat sheet, killing it. Luthren: Luthren wraps up his kasurigama. "Well... Great work guys" He says looking at the group. Once the Scorpion dissolved away, he hops into the van. Natalie: "Right, yeah, okay." She mumbles to herself as she gets back into the van, a little stunned that they had just fought their first monster as a group. Luthren: Luthren heard the shock in her voice, and look over to her. He was shaken too, fighting the scorpion was a lot different than the monster that killed his mother. "Don't worry about a thing, you were great" He says to her, hoping to make her feel a little bit less shocked Cody: He watches as the creature dissolves and then sheaths his rapier. He glances around at the group nervously and then slowly makes his way to the van.

Entering the Underworld

The camper's van arrived in California, and then soon Los Angeles. They moved along until they pulled up at a studio... Dead On Arrival recording studio to be exact. The studio acts as a cover for Charon, and his ride to the underworld. The floor, and walls are a very plain metallic gray color, and black furniture is placed along the room. Spirits, that couldn't afford the trip, flood the room. Most of them ignore the demigods, but some look at them, others pay special attention to Alexander, Alex, and Luthren. Mostly Alexander and Alex as they can sense their more prominent Underworldly connection. Charon is standing on a small podium that opens to an elevator. The elevator that would take them down to Charon's boat, and then to the Underworld.

• Luthren: Luthren walks along the group into the room, glancing at some of the ghosts as he moves along, but mostly trying to ignore them. He begins to wonder if he might even see his mom. He gets up to Charon, and digs in his pocket for the drachma.
• Alexander: "No worries bro, I got this." He walks over to Charon explaining to him how he and Alex were children on Hades. He explained their quest and why they needed to get to the Underworld.
• Natalie: She stands nervously behind the group, unsettled by the surroundings. She subconsciously rubs her twig bracelet, think of home to comfort herself while waiting to be let on to Charon's boat.
• Cody: He stands calmly at the back of the group observing his surroundings while waiting for Charon to allow them onto the boat to the underworld.
• Bryson: He leans back against a wall. to enlighten the dark and gloomy environment, he throws some flare into the air creating bursts of light, similar to fireworks but the brightness to a significantly less extent in the room.
• Charon: He nods silently and holds out his hand, expecting a coin to be dropped into it for passage.
• Natalie: She gets a slightly panicked look on her face as she glances around the group, silently trying to ask if the all need to pay, of if one coin will get all of them through. Amidst her silent pleas, she glares at Bryson for making the flashes, thinking they may have annoyed Charon.
• Charon: He turns his head, which creates a slight creaking sound. He doesn't answer Natalie's question at first, as he continues to lay his hand out as if he requires drachmas before he will agree to allow them on his boat, en route to the underworld. Finally uplifting his silence, he says in a course voice, "While I suppose that I may set up a fixed price... how many coins do you have in your possession?"
• Luthren: Seeing that Alexander's explanation didn't satisfy Charon, Luthren finially finds the small pouch of darachmas given to him before the quest. Inside Luthren found enough darachmas for two different trips into the underworld.for each person on the quest. Counting out enough for everyone, he turns and drops them before Natalie, into Charons hand. "This is for all of us... it's enough correct?"
• Charon: He takes a look on the number of drachmas before closing his cold pale hand with its long fingers. "I suppose this should suffice." He gazes upon them intently, implying that they should board the boat.
